POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Program Manager has responsibility and accountability for coordinating design activities towards the on-time delivery of established engineering design deliverables supporting overall BU program targets for design CQD. The Engineering Program Manager is responsible for driving engineering team to successful completion of program objectives according to overall BU PM Project/APQP plans. The position entails strategic and tactical interface with BU Program Manager, internal design teams, and external design teams (suppliers), and affiliates. The scope of this position is engineering project management of design deliverables only.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES
Project Level
- Interface with BU Program Manager to coordinate engineering deliverables to project schedule for entire project
- Comprehend all applicable customer timing and delivery requirements as communicated from customer and BU Program Management
- Coordinate, lead, and approve the engineering project schedule and tracking process to ensure the project meets overall project metrics. Review project timing and progress toward achievement of engineering targets and goals. Coordinate and lead support activities to ensure successful delivery of the project.
- Create detailed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for all project deliverable tied to specific customer times events.
- Document and Communicate program timing requirements to engineering development team(s) and drive on time completion of tasks.
- Work with engineering team and customer to resolve questions and concerns that could affect task completion or delivery timing.
- Prepare regular reports for presentation to executive management, which address project progress status.
- Generate and maintain an engineering action items list and drive timely resolution.
- Lead discussions between BU Stakeholders and engineering on engineering issues which may impact completion of engineering tasks affecting customer program timing.
Design Level
- Coordinate tasks between engineering disciplines
- Coordinate completion of engineering-related documents to customer
- Create and maintain internal engineering issues list
- Create, maintain, and drive detailed WBS to timely completion the engineering portion of program schedule
- Lead design discussions for engineering issues that may significantly affect QCD
