What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a specialist to join our team in La Vergne, Tn. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization.The materials planner will manage pipeline inventory to support customer requirements through analysis, planning, ordering, continual monitoring and occasional intervention while minimizing any extraordinary expenses associated with these steps.
What you will be doing:
Ensure sufficient inventory to meet customer release requirements by analyzing demand, planning and placing affiliate orders, monitoring incoming material status and initiating actions to maintain customer supply flow.
Duties and responsabilities:
Support and follow all corporate policies, procedures and values.
- Manage Inventory Pipeline
- Issue timely orders to manufacturing in the approved format with approved ordering parameters
- Order and maintain inventory at target to reduce inventory cost
- Strive for 100% delivery to the customer: with input from multiple internal departments, manufacturing and the customer, ensure customer coverage with the lowest cost option initiating management-approved premium freight if essential
- Coordinate incoming timing with internal departments
- Analyze and report delivery performance
- Manage Premium Freight Order
- Utilize appropriate processes and systems to log and order premium freight
- Coordinate transportation requirements between multiple Yazaki groups and the customer
- Determine cost responsibility based on agreements or negotiations with manufacturing or the customer
- Manage Obsolescence / Balance Out
- Order for zero obsolescence
- Keep manufacturing on-point for minimal obsolescence as customer demand changes
- Determine cost responsibility based on agreements or negotiations with manufacturing or the customer
- Process customer claims and scrap quickly to minimize obsolescence and carrying costs
- Act as the liaison for both the customer and manufacturing
- Ensure timely responses to their communication
- Assist customer with delivery issues
- Support engineering changes with manufacturing and the customer
- Inform customer of any impact to delivery or their build in a timely manner including support plans, commitment timing, recovery timing and root cause as required
- Manage part registration in applicable system ensuring the system is ready to receive EDI and transmit orders to manufacturing
- Manage late requests from the customer
- Represent Production Control at customer and manufacturing meetings
- Utilize customer systems as necessary
- Complete required reports and metrics
- Understand when escalation is required and appropriately initiate it
- May monitor manufacturing’s output to plan for each Trial Event, updating the carline team on order status
- May support specific prototype / preproduction meetings (e.g. component procurement / shortage and Supplier readiness)
- May coordinate shipment timing and special requirements with Distribution
- May coordinate component consignments with manufacturing and the supplier
- May process customer orders in applicable system as necessary
- Support long-range and short-term group forecasts, goals, objectives, and priorities
- Support other projects, tasks, and/or duties as assigned

Unique for Material Planner II and Senior Material Planner
- Be recognized as your department’s subject matter expert by peers and customers
- Exhibit natural leadership
- Support / direct daily activities in the absence of the Supervisor
- Mentor and train Material Planners as required
- Aid other carlines
- Represent PCD in process development with other Yazaki functions
- Represent PCD in Functional Group or Business Units meetings and projects

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree
- Previous Experience: No experience required
- International Supply Chain knowledge preferred
- Strong organization (multi-tasking), communication skills and mathematical skills required. Project management experience preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to share workload with other associates in the department
- Desire for self-improvement and a willingness to grow professionally through cross training or acceptance of additional work responsibilities
