What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Packaging Engineer to join our Logistics team in El Paso, TX. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization.
What you will be doing:
- Analyzes product engineering drawing and specifications to determine packaging physical requirements, quality and material needs.
- Assess current packaging solutions to assure compatibility with new model year design changes, and implement packaging design changes, as required to preserve product protection and ergonomic line presentation.
- Perform feasibility evaluation of different packaging materials and technologies. Analyze costs and benefits to recommend optimum packaging solution.
- Creates engineering specifications and work instructions for packaging components, publish product packaging specifications in company system and communicate to affected departments.
- Identifies and drives resolution of problems and/or non-conformances reported throughout supply chain.
- Tracks effectiveness of corrective actions once implemented
- Rectifies system problems at various warehouses and sequencing centers
- Supports investigations into customer complaints and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Defines returnable container systems considering supply chain specific elements.
- Performs procurement activities of packaging materials in compliance with company specific processes.
- Initiates and maintains customer specific packaging database for assigned parts.
- Coordinates packaging reviews with the customer to gain final approvals for mass production.
- Supports customer MP&L engineering with in-plant packaging and material handling improvement activities.
- Maintains SAP Master Data module with packaging information as identified by manufacturing affiliates.
- Provides regularly scheduled status updates on current YNA directed projects.
- Project responsibility for packaging specific projects and could be assigned as a team member to other strategic projects to provide packaging expertise.
- Responsible for performing various project packaging related tasks and provide feedback and results to project management team.
- Assists management in meeting corporate and departmental goals and objectives.
- Coordinates, attends and documents internal and external customer meetings.
- Provides on-site launch support to validate packaging specifications meet program requirements.
- Knowledge and application of the following systems:
- CAD
- GQRS
- ARE/ARS
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Customer Specific Systems
What you will bring to the table:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
- 0-3 Years of experience in Packaging Engineering
- Ability to travel 20% of the time
- Ability to speak, Read, and write both English and Spanish
- Experience using Microsoft Office Applications
