POSITION SUMMARY

 

Management of Sales Department.  Involves working with commercial and technical organizations in establishing price strategies (commercial) and competitive product levels (technical).  Develop sales price and quotes to customers.  Manage/maintain price strategies affecting profit by communicating/coordinating with management and negotiate/settle issues with customer.  Management and coordination of business planning meetings.  Present/sell Yazaki’s image to customer for the purpose of ensuring that a trusting and positive relationship with the customer is built.  Data based decision-making; provide direction, recognize actions in advance of customer notifications/requests.  Workload prioritization skills are important.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES

 

  • Continually analyze current sales trends, market conditions and other pertinent information to drive Sales and Operations Planning process to ensure all areas are capable of meeting customer needs
  • Develop a robust revenue and forecasting plan based on new program wins/losses, market trends, and supply chain conditions
  • Identify new business opportunities within the scope/charter of the Honda Sales Department
  • Serve as regional interface to business unit and as applicable, global, for activities on new business opportunities
  • Prepare and deliver Quote Packages within customer RFQ timing upon approval of senior management
  • Receive, and ensure completeness of, RFQ package for new proposed business (volumes, specifications, ESOW/CSOW, etc.) and distribute packages among departments for response (costing, logistics, engineering, quality, warranty, purchasing, manufacturing feasibility/capacity planning, etc.) based upon customer deliverables
  • Maintain knowledge of business unit and Yazaki product offerings by attending seminars, trade shows, facility tours, etc.
  • Present business case and timing to Honda BU management for strategic approval (Est. EBIT, SWOT analysis)
  • Report quote proposal vs. customer target prices to senior management and program team
  • Coordinate development of roadmap analysis to obtain cross functional concept to risk levels
  • Recommend costing and overall profit improvement ideas
  • Recommend profit improvement implementation plans
  • Make business decisions that may affect day-to-day and financial operations of the BU

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Degree Requirements:

A B.S. degree in Engineering or Business is required; an MBA/MSEE is preferred

Certification Requirements:

N/A

Previous Experience:

 

10+ years of successful sales experience with a minimum of 5 years successful sales management leadership managing account managers

Preferred: Experience with Japanese customers and Matrix Organization

Travel Requirements:

Domestic / international travel required up to 25%

Language:

Fluent in English

Intermediate to advanced Japanese language skills preferred

Application/Software:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Available via mobile phone during non-business hours as required
