What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Resident Engineer based out of our U.S. office in Columbus, OH. 20% of domestic/international travel is required per year. 40 hours/week.
What you will be doing:
- Assist the Customer’s Lead Engineer in defining requirements, evaluate design alternatives, introduce, implement, and test new technology, verify performances, resolve issues, and process improvements for the product(s) to be supplied.
- Resolve issues on the technical requirements and design.
- Initiate system requirement change requests Coordinate communication meetings between the customer and YNA.
- Recommend additional testing and development as required.
- Determine and investigate design alternatives. Determine and investigate mechanization alternatives. Prepare project plans.
- Assist with the resolution of system issues and determine the root cause and resolution to verification and test incidents.
- Prepare and present responses to action items.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Assist with the failure mode and effects analysis process.
- Maintain an awareness of programs and vehicle systems.
- Determine improvements to the process.
- Support customer drawing creation for new and current design products.
- Recommend design alternatives supported by data.
- Recommend and test new technology in the market or in the development phase.
What you will bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or other closely related specialized field of engineering or the foreign equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in Design and/or development of electronic modules
- Must have experience with each of the following: Functional Safety (ISO26262) design skills; Hardware/Software Interface design skills; Understanding of automotive specifications; Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA); Manufacturing process for mass production electronics; Test & measurement equipment; Circuit Design; 2D Drawing creation; Troubleshooting and solving problems related to EMC compliance & Thermal management; Design product concept for RFQ; and Power distribution module/ECU test at vehicle level.
