What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for a Sr. Training & Development Engineer to join our Core EDS Engineering team in Canton, MI. The Sr. Training & Development Engineer drives problem solving and process improvements through Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Black Belt projects, ensuring high quality engineering outcomes. They manage the Engineering New Hire Program, training curriculum, and instructor-led courses while maintaining records and reporting key metrics. This role represents YNCA Engineering in skill management initiatives and the Yazaki WWE Training Working Group. Additionally, they expand and align the Engineering Curriculum with skill frameworks, retain volunteer instructors, and develop a comprehensive skill matrix. By integrating DFSS methodologies, they enhance training effectiveness and support continuous improvement in engineering capabilities and workforce development.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Manage the Engineering New Hire Program, schedule instructor-led courses, and oversee training records in SuccessFactors.
  • Lead and support Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Yellow and Green Belt projects to drive problem-solving and improve engineering processes.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive skill management framework and skill matrix for Engineering with alignment with Global process
  • Maintain, update, and align the 80+ course Engineering Curriculum with skill management frameworks.
  • Represent YNCA Engineering in skill management initiatives with Y-EMEA, HR, IT, and the Yazaki WWE Training Working Group.
  • Recruit, retain, and grow a network of volunteer instructors from Business Units to teach training courses.
  • Track, analyze, and report Engineering Training Metrics to drive continuous improvement.

UNIQUE TO Sr. Training Specialist

  • Formulate the training strategy and coordinate training material development and training deployment
  • Develop partnerships and work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to validate course designs and training curriculum

 

What you will bring to the table:

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), Human Resources, Business, Management, or a related field
  • Certification Requirements: Required: Six Sigma Green Belt; Preferred: Design for Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Previous Experience: Required: Demonstrated experience in coordinating and delivering technical engineering training; Preferred: Automotive wire harness design or manufacturing experience
  • Travel Requirements: Foreign and domestic travel may be required up to 10%
  • Language: Required: English; Preferred: Spanish or Japanese
  • Application/Software Required: SuccessFactors, Microsoft Suite; Preferred: Captivate, Power BI, Video Editing Software for online training
