What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for a Sr. Technician – Product Development – Engineering to join our Ford Engineering team in Canton, MI. 

The Engineering Technician will support Product Development Engineering by performing well-defined activities in their assigned area of responsibility.  Engineering Technicians assist Engineers and perform tasks assigned by their direct supervisor.  Technicians are generally assigned multiple similar tasks in a common discipline and will be trained and/or mentored to perform those tasks in a supervised environment.

 

 What you will be doing:

Perform work according to established instructions and procedures, to include a subset of the following tasks:

 

  • Creation of assembly kits for internal or external projects.
  • Assembling and hand soldering of prototype electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Rework and repair of prototype assemblies.
  • Perform benchtop testing, vehicle-level testing, and/or assembly of complex setups to carry out automated testing.
  • Assemble, verify operation, then provide ongoing support for complex test systems and customized accessories designed to enable automated testing.
  • Perform basic modification of enclosures and panels for assembled units.
  • Assist with writing equipment and material purchase orders.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating relevant company database(s) to ensure accurate information for all users.
  • Interface with direct management to receive assignments.
  • Interface with internal customers (Yazaki Engineering) as directed, to ensure correct implementation of procedures, special instructions, clarify missing information, assembly or fixturing requirements, etc.
  • Participate in the implementation of quality systems and associated continuous improvement activities.
  • Complete technical reports, populate databases, or furnish other standard documentation relevant to role.
  • Assist in audit preparation and maintenance needs that benefit the broader team.
  • Track or maintain records for fixed assets, equipment usage, consumable parts, components, or materials inventory as directed by management.

 

What you will bring to the table: 

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience:
    • Employees in entry-level roles: No work experience required.
    • Intermediate-experience roles: 2-5 years relevant experience required.
    • Senior-level roles: 10 years relevant experience required.
