What we are looking for:

Yazaki North America is looking for a Sr. Resource Management Engineer to join the EDS Core Engineering team in Canton, MI.    The Engineer works to design, develop, document, and/or implement processes and tools that enable effective execution of customer deliverables throughout the Engineering organization. They further support adherence to these processes and facilitate development of expertise among individual contributors across the organization by establishing and delivering a training program. They may provide technical support for existing production technologies to engineering groups for YNA customer programs both regionally and globally, evaluate validation and process development issues and provide direction for resolution. The Engineer may be assigned to monitor and report periodic results of specific measures as indicators of organizational success. They serve a variety of stakeholders in the organization, promoting cross-functional collaboration, and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation.

Engineers in senior-level and principal roles will also train and mentor less-experienced Engineers and substitute for Supervisor as needed, which may include oversight of assignments and checking their work. They will have developed expertise in identifying and applying best practices, technologies, and processes.

 What you will be doing:

Employees in entry-level to intermediate-experience roles shall have the following responsibilities on increasingly complex assignments:

  • Develop corporate policies, processes, workflow diagrams, and other documentation as required to support the Yazaki Product D&D teams.
  • Lead/support the integration of Yazaki Technical Service Centers into YNCA activities, primarily focused on Engineering, but ideally able to support other functional groups (IE: Purchasing, Manufacturing, SCM, etc.).
  • Lead/support the Engagement with local Universities affiliated with Yazaki Technical Service Centers that support YNCA. Leverage this engagement to improve Yazaki’s recognition and ability to attract new talent in locations we choose to expand headcount.
  • Lead the Development and Deployment of Engineering Skill Management software for YNCA Engineering; working with multiple functions from YNCA and Y-EMEA to document requirements, setup the system, and deploy to Engineering Leadership.
  • Lead the implementation of new processes and procedures for engineering employees, offering support to management for same. 
  • Research organizational best practices within process area and apply benchmarks to process re-design efforts.
  • Prepare presentation materials and present information in a group setting.
  • Act as change agent within the organization by supporting initiatives and by promoting the adoption of new processes, best practices, and tools.
  • Formulate the training strategy and coordinate training material development and training deployment.
  • Construct reports and graphical characterization of key performance indicators for the organization to support high-level oversight and facilitate improvement of critical functions/initiatives. 
  •  Ensure compliance to global environmental requirements and act as a resource and problem-solver for the organization broadly.
  • The Manager may, at their discretion, assign other or additional responsibilities to an employee in this position

In addition to above, employees in senior-level and principal roles shall have these additional responsibilities with an increasing level of involvement in and impact on their organization’s deliverables:

  • Assist in identifying regional/global support needs and opportunities for resource sharing
  • Identify global training needs and facilitate training in the global regions
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of training plans for new team members
  • Assist Product Development teams in understanding the role of Universal Development Plans (UDPs). Facilitate awareness and proper use.

What you will bring to the table: 

  • Undergraduate (Bachelor of Science) degree in Engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Chemical, Materials.
  • Relevant graduate degree (Master of Science in Engineering discipline) preferred for senior-level and principal roles.  
  • Intermediate-experience roles: 2-6 years relevant experience required
  • Senior-level and Principal roles: 10-15 years’ relevant experience required
  • Periodic Travel Required, up to 25%.
  • Spanish strongly preferred
  • English required, Spanish preferred
  • Software/Application: Microsoft Suite. Employees will be trained to use applicable PLM software and project tracking tools, reaching the proficiency level determined as a requirement of their role.
