POSITION SUMMARY

Connection Program Engineers in any role at senior level will be responsible for complex evaluation of outcomes of any aspect of their project as well as interpretation of complex industry, vehicle, or customer requirements and product, system, or test specifications, to include planning and executing implementation of same. They will also advise on lessons learned, train and mentor less-experienced Engineers, and substitute for Supervisor as needed, which may include oversight of assignments and checking their work. They will have developed expertise in identifying and applying best practices, technologies, and processes, acting as a representative of Yazaki North America for learning or developing global process related to their aspect of product development/ customer deliverables.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Interface with internal customer (Validation Engineer, Program Manager, etc.) to coordinate project, resolve questions and concerns, maintain documentation in the form of action items list, schedule, or product release notes.
  • Understand and communicate customer requirements to supporting team members.
  • Generate and maintain internal requirement or instructional documents that add detail above-and-beyond customer's stated requirements.
  • Coordinate all significant outputs of your project, Ex. release of project status reports or drawings, transfer of design requirements, issue documentation to purchase necessary materials.
  • Prepare timing and cost estimates related to your aspect of product development to support RFQ response. 
  • Coordinate collaboration and/or handoff of tasks between supporting team members and disciplines.
  • Assist in Quality system implementation, audits, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Work with engineering team members and internal or external customers to resolve questions and concerns that could affect technical task completion or delivery timing.
  • Prepare and present engineering project status reports, KPIs or metrics for immediate or executive leadership as needed.
  • Coordinate and lead the project schedule and tracking to ensure the project scope and requirements are met and to ensure successful achievement of all technical aspects of deliverables.
  • Work with the global engineering / management teams to develop and implement process changes to meet global internal Yazaki and customer requirements to ensure alignment.
  • Attend and conduct presentations at global meetings when required.
  • Assist supporting team members to adopt good engineering practices across engineering disciplines.
  • Review and interpret company, customer and industry specifications and requirements.
  • Review, revise and update existing company technical information and instructions.
  • Support any Crimp related issues such as specifications, terminal materials, tool manufacturing, test requirements, etc.
  • Research Crimp issues, documents and present technical solutions.
  • Support current corporate, customer and industry standards i.e. USCAR 21, USCAR38, USCAR 45, TS, NDS, YPES, etc.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Degree Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in relevant Engineering discipline.

Master of Science degree in relevant Engineering discipline is preferred for senior-level roles. 

Certification Requirements:

Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving certification preferred for roles beyond entry level.

Previous Experience:

 

 10-15 years relevant experience required.

Travel Requirements:

Yes (10%) – Mexico, Japan, Europe.

Language:

English.

Application/Software:

Microsoft Suite. Employee will be trained to use applicable PLM software and project tracking tools, reaching the proficiency level determined as a requirement of their role. 

On Call Requirements:

Yes, 5% other than normal business hours

Physical Requirements:

Primarily sedentary (office position)
