POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Purchasing Cost Specialist will accelerate cost reduction necessary to compensate for revenue shortfalls and maintain margin. The Senior Specialist will be responsible for calculating cost while analyzing supplier cost structures, manufacturing and logistic processes. Additionally, this position will support category management in fact-based negotiations and leverage supplier capabilities in cost-reduction efforts, and collaborate with supplier, engineering and other business unites to challenge and eliminate cost drivers in supply chain and product design.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Lead and support preparation of cost break downs for bottom up calculation, and evaluate cost break down sheets and cost analysis.
  2. Prepare data to identify measures for cost reduction of purchased parts in alignment with manager or functional expert.
  3. Evaluate, benchmark and maintain data of supplier rate commitment cards.
  4. Improve and develop cost engineering tools.
  5. Conduct supplier VA/VE, VSM and cost reduction workshops to improve competitiveness of suppliers based on selected KPI's.
  6. Support savings for budget owner to meet the budget and/or realize savings on top of the budget.
  7. Reduce cost through standardization of specifications as well as through reduction of complexity.
  8. Identify, evaluate & deploy cost reduction projects along the entire end-to-end product realization process.
  9. Encourage and challenge suppliers to submit cost saving proposals to achieve overall cost reduction of products and services purchased and as a result improve competitiveness.
  10. Prepare cost estimates for purchased components and tools for new business during RFQ phase as well as for running business.
  11. Lead interdisciplinary teams with the target to reduce complexity and TCO
  12. Conduct Lean workshops at our suppliers in collaboration with our European NYS organization; apply tools like VSM, Kanban, SMED, 7 Muda, 5S, Monozukuri, etc.
  13. Collect, verify, track and implement resulting cost reduction initiatives.
  14. Support other purchasing functions during negotiation with suppliers.
  15. Design and implement all processes, tools and systems necessary.
  16. Present key projects to senior management.
  17. All other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Degree Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

Certification Requirements:

None

Previous Experience:

Previous cost engineering analyst experience

Travel Requirements:

Up to 30%

Language:

Primary English.  Spanish/Japanese encouraged.

Software:

Required: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
