POSITION SUMMARY

 

Provide quality/resident engineering leadership in support of US OEM BU customers.  Main duties include assisting team members with problem identification, documentation, notification and resolution response in accordance with customer specific requirements.  Develop and maintain metrics related to customer satisfaction and corporate/BU objectives.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise Team

  • Ensure that team structure and staffing levels are in line with business requirements
  • Hire and work with team to improve their skills and competencies, using feedback, coaching, motivation, and mentoring techniques
  • Implement associate development tools, including objective setting and the performance review process
  • Ensure training needs are identified and met
  • Ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of effective, efficient, and common processes, procedures, and methodologies
  • Ensure data is collected, analyzed and corrective actions implemented for team metrics
  • Provide regular communication to the team on administrative issues and policies
  • Assist HR with resolution of compliance, safety, integrity concerns, or grievances within team
  • Support long-range and short-term group forecasts, goals, objectives, and priorities
  • Prepare and maintain updated job descriptions ensuring functions are aligned with processes and procedures
  • Resolve customer and internal issues to facilitate implementation of group objectives and achieve customer satisfaction

 

Commercial/Financial

  • Lead cost reduction meetings with Manufacturing (applicable regions)
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineer to resolve any PPM discrepancies on customer PPM reports; follow escalation process
  • Ensure cost responsibility for containment actions are identified, approved and charged back to responsible party(s) in accordance with processes
  • Compile cost recovery packages for component related concerns and follow-up with Supplier Quality Assurance

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Review GQRS to assure proper binning of report types and data entry
  • Coordinate plant containment actions when necessary
  • Review and approve quality rework instructions
  • Assign temporary resources, as needed, for plant actions
  • Initiate charge back dispute process w/customer as required
  • Coordinate and communicate amongst functional groups to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Degree Requirements:

Bachelors or Associates Degree in Quality Engineering, related field or equivalent industry experience

Certification Requirements:

N/A

Previous Experience:

Minimum of five years applicable experience with three years in resident engineering or a related field.

Travel Requirements:

International travel may be required.

On Call Requirements:

Extended work hours frequently required.  Overnight work schedules occasionally required including cross time zone conference calls.
