What we are looking for:
Yazaki North America is looking for a Resident Engineer to join the Components Business Unit (COMBU) in Canton, MI. The On-Site Engineer performs activities related to frontline customer support of Components and Terminals.
What you will be doing:
Design Liaison
- Review and Understanding of Product Development related analysis, studies, and calculations (for explanation to the customer)
- Review and Understanding of APQP documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, QFD, Other as appropriate) for explanation to the customer as needed
- Drawing package release into customer drawing database systems
- Product Review / Evaluation (New / Existing product)
- Provide Voice of the Customer as inputs for Design Development and future product development strategy
Customer Issue Management
- Track and Resolve customer issues and concerns
- Facilitate regularly scheduled meetings with customer for open issues resolution
Change Control
- Understanding of customer processes related to component part changes and releases
- Review and understand the part changes and provide explanation to the customer if needed
Customer Satisfaction/Support
- Assist customer in terminal and connector selection based on application requirements
- Review and Provide feedback to customer on component performance specifications
- Support of general customer requests (including assembly plant support if needed)
- Foster a positive relationship with the customer
- Assist in components and terminals implementation on multiple vehicle programs
Customer Requirements
- Understanding of any customer requirement or specification changes
- Communication of customer changes back to Engineering management and organization
In addition to the above items, the Associate is expected to:
- Set personal daily work schedules in accordance with assigned tasks, deadlines, and priorities. Perform assignments independently, with only minimal guidance from the applicable Supervisor or Manager
- Work on multiple and potentially complex issues
What you will bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of basic design and performance of automotive terminals and connectors.
- Working knowledge of PC environment (Excel, Word, and Power-point, etc)
- Knowledge of customer and industry performance specifications
- Excellent oral / written communication skills
- Basic Materials knowledge (plastics, metals, rubbers)
- 2~4 years relevant connector and / or terminal design experience desired).
