POSITION SUMMARY

 

Manage assigned Business Unit OEM program(s) from pre-award up to EOL (end of life) within the GPMS (Global Program Management System) compliance.  Liaison between the Customer Business Unit, Engineering, Manufacturing location and purchasing for externally purchased components.  Responsible for managing and coordinating the necessary information to help ensure a smooth pre-build, best possible material costs and program launch through post SOP (Start of Production) support.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Overall management of YPMS / GPMS Purchasing Task Compliance
  • Management of purchased parts: obtain BoM with forecast volume from BU Engineering/Program Management. Work within Purchasing, monitor and report targets and overall supplier status (timing, cost, capacity, logistics, PSW/PPAP and any potential supplier issue).
  • Identify Cost Improvement opportunities by localization, Direct Profit, Point of Purchase optimization / increasing Yazaki content and price/cost negotiations with the supply base prior to program launch. Link and leverage new business with existing business and supply base, to support Commodity objectives.
  • Agree on program sourcing strategy (preferred suppliers, terms & conditions, etc.) in cooperation with Commodity Purchasing to offset OEM reduction requirements.
  • Coordination of new components including prototypes: support Purchasing in identifying and benchmarking suppliers. Organize any required sourcing team meetings to approve sourcing decisions. Track and manage new external components from prototype to production.
  • Frequent reporting of Purchasing / Advanced Purchasing related YPMS/GPMS deliverables by conducting regular project reviews and functional review meetings using the established Purchasing templates and tools.
  • Manage and support all assigned OEM RFQ’s including all necessary supplier RFQ’s.
  • Support Post-SOP coverage for assigned programs
    • BoM pricing updates
    • Support VAVE activities toward cost reductions
    • Support sourcing of new provisional components via NCR process
    • Ensure contract availability for added (new) components
    • Monitor, track and report progress  / achievements
  • Overall compliance according to all assigned Roles and Responsibilities in line with current Purchasing / Advanced Purchasing standards and Procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

 

Degree Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or related experience as demonstrated

Certification Requirements:

None

Previous Experience:

 

Minimum of 3 years Purchasing and/or Program Management related experience. Knowledge of Program Management tools, pricing and systems.  Ability to work in complex project organization and to understand Purchasing and Program goals and tasks in global & local perspective.  Understanding of automotive market (2nd tier suppliers, OEMs, etc.)

Preferred: 3 Years of experience

Travel Requirements:

Up to 10% as required (Must be willing to travel to domestic/international –Mexico, Europe, Asia, etc.)

Language:

Primary English.  Spanish/Japanese encouraged.

Software:

Microsoft Office Suite – SharePoint Previous costing tool experience.
