What we are looking for:

 

Yazaki is looking for a Buyer to join our Purchasing team in Canton, MI.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization.  This position is hybrid.

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Lead set cost reduction objectives, develop cost reduction strategies, negotiate the Yazaki Purchase Terms and Conditions, and manage performance according to QCDE (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Environmental) with all suppliers.
  • Support Advanced Purchasing with cost reduction strategies, manage sourcing of new and existing suppliers, and select alternates to ensure continuity, consistency, quality, and competitive pricing.
  • As the first point of contact and liaison with the supply base, conduct Executive Supplier reviews with key suppliers to improve overall performance, and champion the SCR (Supplier Change Request) while ensuring SCRs are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Conduct market tests, renegotiate cost control to maintain competitiveness, identify savings opportunities and work with each Regional Commodity Team on cross regional projects, while supporting global cost improvement initiatives.
  • Process e-RFQ’s thru GPDB (Global Purchasing Data Base) system, while maintaining price contracts, issue tooling POs, and obtain photos from suppliers to support BU payment.
  • Ensure compliance with all documentation, and data integrity with cost reduction road map.
  • Manage Supply Chain optimization through price harmonization, localization, and logistics routes.

 

What you will bring to the table:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 7 years of previous automotive purchasing experience
  • 5 years of previous experience with blueprints and schematics, preferred
  • Travel: 5-10% local, regional, national, and international
  • Ability to resolve issues by applying creative thinking
  • Ability to think and act logically under pressure
  • Ability to resolve issues or propose resolutions to responsible parties
  • Must work independently and collaboratively
