On-Site Support Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Field Support Technician is responsible for attending to incidents and requests from end users for all IT equipment at the assigned offices, plants, or distribution centers. This position oversees the technology support services for both internal and external users under specific regions and/or scopes.

 

THIS IS FOR ON-SITE SUPPORT. THIS ROLE IS NOT REMOTE, CANDIDATE MUST REPORT TO OUR CANTON, MI LOCATION.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Attend to incidents opened and assigned by the service desk or direct users and close out the tickets in a timely manner.
  • Oversee operational service support associates to ensure that end user problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner
  • Enable users to access needed information and utilize technology resources effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with field support supervisor and level 2 and 3 engineers about customers and stakeholders needs.
  • Provide basic training to end users on equipment support and software tools.
  • Support minor tech installations (network cabling, jacks, electric extensions, etc.)
  • Review and control the inventory of hardware and software at the assigned location to provide information to IT HQ of the equipment used and installed on the plants
  • Update the fixed asset database with the information of every IT asset located at the assigned location.
  • Provide preventive maintenance to IT Equipment.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Degree Requirements:

Technical degree in computer science, electrical engineer or related field. Minimal experience required (6 months) or demonstrated skills on software and hardware installation

Certification Requirements:

None

Previous Experience:

Demonstrated knowledge of Windows OS, hardware support, label printers and scanners

Travel Requirements:

Up to 50% inside US or Canada

Language:

English required; Spanish preferred

Software:

SAP, Microsoft Office Suite (word, power point, excel)

On Call Requirements:

Occasional weekend or evening work may be required

Physical Requirements:

Office position/Primarily Sedentary
