What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Materials, Chemical Management & Sustainability Engineer to join our Core EDS Engineering team in Canton, MI.
Materials and Chemical Management Engineers work to design, develop, document, and/or implement processes and tools that enable effective execution of customer deliverables throughout the Engineering organization. They further support adherence to these processes and facilitate development of expertise among individual contributors across the organization by establishing and delivering training programs. They may provide technical support for existing production technologies to engineering groups for YNA customer programs both regionally and globally, evaluate validation and process development issues and provide direction for resolution.
What you will be doing:
- Develop corporate policies, processes, workflow diagrams, and other documentation as required to support the Yazaki Product D&D teams.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Business Units to review and approve supplier change requests and the registration of new Materials for the organization.
- Support YC and Customer initiatives for new activities such as circular economy, recycled content requirements, and Product Carbon Footprint analysis.
- Lead the implementation of new processes and procedures for engineering employees, offering support to management for same.
- Research organizational best practices within process area and apply benchmarks to process re-design efforts.
- Prepare presentation materials and present information in a group setting.
- Act as change agent within the organization by supporting initiatives and by promoting the adoption of new processes, best practices, and tools.
- Formulate the training strategy and coordinate training material development and training deployment.
- Construct reports and graphical characterization of key performance indicators for the organization to support high-level oversight and facilitate improvement of critical functions/initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with global environmental requirements and act as a resource and problem-solver for the organization.
- Support the organization with tasks related to part registration and other administrative necessities to enable all processes/customer deliverables/operation of the business.
- The Manager may, at their discretion, assign other or additional responsibilities to an employee in this position.
What you will bring to the table:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Environmental, or Material Science discipline. Master of Science degree in relevant engineering discipline preferred
- Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of previous experience
- Microsoft Suite: Employee will be trained to use applicable PLM and project tracking tools, reaching proficiency level determined as a requirement of their role
- Ability to travel internationally roughly twice a year.
