Intern: Student works full-time during the summer
Co-op: Student works part-time while school is in session. Student may work more hours during the summer if not enrolled in classes. Students may work for a minimum of one semester or longer.
Both positions are paid according to current academic standing and job classification.

What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a motivated Summer Intern to join our IT Infrastructure team in Canton, Michigan. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and is eager to make meaningful contributions to the organization. This internship runs full-time from May 11, 2026, to August 14, 2026.
What you will be doing:
- Project Work:
The intern will participate in a structured, cross‑functional IT project initiative focused on addressing a real‑world challenge or improvement opportunity within the IT organization. The project scope will be defined early in the internship and may span areas such as IT infrastructure, data management, program management, and IT governance.
The objective of the project is to enable the intern to gain hands‑on exposure to enterprise IT operations while contributing meaningful analysis, documentation, and recommendations that support IT strategy, operational efficiency, or risk reduction. Project activities may include current‑state assessment, stakeholder interviews, data analysis, process mapping, and the development of a proposed solution or improvement plan.
The scope will be intentionally sized to allow the intern to complete a clearly defined deliverable within the internship period.
- Success Metrics:

- Completion of a defined project deliverable (e.g., assessment report, recommendation deck, process documentation, or prototype concept) by the end of the internship.
- Demonstrated understanding of the assigned IT domain(s) and how they support broader business and operational objectives.
- Quality and clarity of analysis, documentation, and final presentation delivered to IT and management stakeholders.
- Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and mentors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Positive feedback from sponsoring managers and project mentors regarding engagement, initiative, and professionalism.
- Collaboration:
- The intern will work closely with IT leaders and subject matter experts across multiple functions, including infrastructure, data management, program management, cybersecurity, and IT governance. Collaboration will include regular engagement with senior engineers, project managers, and designated mentors, as well as participation in cross‑functional meetings and working sessions.
- The intern will be supported by an assigned IT sponsor and mentor, who will provide guidance, feedback, and alignment throughout the internship, while enabling exposure to a broad range of IT roles and perspectives.
What you will bring to the table:
- Education: Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited institution during the internship period.
- Relevant Background: Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
Related majors with demonstrated interest or coursework in information technology, data, or business systems will also be considered.
- Academic Standing: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Commitment: Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 11, 2026, and August 14, 2026
- Technical Skills:
- Fundamental understanding of IT concepts (networks, systems, cloud, data, or applications)
- Ability to conduct research, evaluate options, and compare alternatives
- Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, or macOS)
- Familiarity with Microsoft tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams)
- Awareness of cloud platforms, data platforms, or project tools through coursework or labs
- Experience working with data sets, reports, or dashboards (academic or project‑based)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
