What we are looking for:
Yazaki is seeking a motivated General HR Intern to join our HR team in Canton, MI. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and is eager to make meaningful contributions to the organization.
During this internship, the selected student will gain exposure to core HR functions and will actively support both the Talent Acquisition team and our HR Business Partners. This includes hands-on experience with recruitment processes, onboarding activities, employee programs, and day-to-day HR operations.
This internship runs full-time from May 11, 2026, to August 14, 2026.
What you will be doing:
As a General HR Intern, you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience across multiple areas of Human Resources. In this role, you will:
- Support talent acquisition with scheduling interviews, posting requisitions, reviewing resumes, supporting career fair preparation, and assisting with candidate communication.
- Assist with intern program activities, including event coordination, engagement activities, tracking deliverables, and providing general support to ensure a positive intern experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support HR operations and learn how HR interacts with broader business functions.
- Assist HR Business Partners
- Support the HR Business Partner (HRBP) team in refreshing and standardizing HR templates, guides, and reference materials used across the organization.
- Support a structured summer project to build an HRBP Playbook — a centralized resource that documents key processes, workflows, templates, and “how we work” standards for the HRBP function
- Gather and organize information from HRBPs to support development of the Playbook, gaining hands-on exposure to HR operations, casework, and best practices.
- Participate in HRBP-related meetings or projects as they arise to provide a well-rounded understanding of the HRBP function and its impact on the business.
- Project Expectations: As part of your internship, you will lead a key project focused on early talent outreach: creating a High School “Yazaki Day.” This project will give you hands-on experience in event planning, community engagement, and employer branding.
- Success Metrics:
- By the end of the internship, the intern should demonstrate some growth in HR knowledge including understanding of TA processes and HR operations.
- Deliver a completed and well-structured “Yazaki Day” proposal
- Handle assigned tasks with increasing independence
- Contribute meaningful improvements or insights to at least one HR or TA process.
What you will bring to the table:
- Education: Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited institution during the internship period.
- Relevant Background: Pursuing a degree in a relevant area such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, etc.
- Academic Standing: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Commitment: Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 11, 2026, and August 14, 2026
- Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, basic research and analysis skills, attention to detail
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
