Please note definition differences between Intern and Co-op:

Intern:  Student works full-time during the summer

Co-op:  Student works part-time while school is in session. Student may work more hours during the summer if not enrolled in classes. Students may work for a minimum of one semester or longer.

 

Both positions are paid according to current academic standing and job classification.

What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for a motivated Summer Intern to join our Market & Strategic Intelligence (MSI) team in Canton, MI.  The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and is eager to make meaningful contributions to the organization. This internship runs full-time from May 12, 2025, to August 15, 2025.
 

What you will be doing:

  • Project Work
    • Deep-dive and initiate a business plan around a defined developing technology with the potential to disrupt Yazaki’s current business model.
    • To achieve the above, research fundamentals are required, using varied formal and informal sources. The ability to write a white paper and use graphics to tell a story will come in handy, as will a high level of scientific and intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in current and emerging technologies.
    • Ability to summarize your findings, including actionable insights, in an executive management format/meeting with an accompanying detailed report.
  • Success Metrics: 
    • Present a rudimentary business plan enabling Yazaki to execute the technology.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the MSI team in engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, sales, and finance, gaining exposure to other functions within a corporate setting.


What you will bring to the table:

  • Education: Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited institution during the internship period.
  • Relevant Background: Passion for Electronics or Electrical engineering, Physics, Material Sciences, etc.
  • Academic Standing: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Commitment: Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 12, 2025, and August 15, 2025
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of and/or experience with reporting packages such as MS Office and PowerBI and programming languages like Python
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
