What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for a motivated Summer Intern to join our Corporate Communications team in Canton, MI.  The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, results-oriented environment and is eager to make meaningful contributions to the organization. This internship runs full-time from May 11, 2026 to August 15, 2026.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Project Work

The Internal Communications Intern will support key initiatives that enhance employee engagement, alignment, and awareness across YNA (Yazaki North America). Project work includes assisting in the development of internal content such as landing pages, newsletters, intranet articles, leadership messages, digital signage, and campaign materials; helping maintain communication channels and editorial calendars; and contributing to storytelling projects that highlight strategic priorities, culture, and employee achievements. The scope also includes research, data gathering, and helping implement new communication tools or enhancements.

 

 

  • Success Metrics:
    • Delivery of clear, compelling, and error‑free content that meets communication standards and deadlines.
    • Consistent reliability in managing tasks, organizing information, and contributing ideas with creativity and initiative.
    • Positive feedback from project stakeholders regarding collaboration, communication, and professionalism.
    • Strong support in the execution of campaigns or events, measured by engagement metrics, employee feedback, or timely completion of deliverables.
    • Observable growth in writing, planning, and project coordination skills, as well as an improved understanding of internal communications strategies and best practices.

 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with
    • Corporate Communications Team (primary mentors, editors, and project leads)
    • Human Resources Teams for culture and employee engagement initiatives
    • IT / Digital Workplace Teams on intranet updates, content management, and communication tools
    • Business Leaders and Subject-Matter Experts across departments to gather information and develop content
    • External Vendors (as needed) for logistics or production support

 

What you will bring to the table:

  • Education: Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited institution during the internship period.
  • Relevant Background: Degree/experience related to the position (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business or related fields)
  • Academic Standing: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Commitment: Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks between May 11, 2026, and August 14, 2026
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to conduct research and compile insights to support messaging
    • Comfort gathering and interpreting engagement metrics (e.g., email open rates, clicks, intranet views)
    • Comfort in learning content management systems (CMS) or intranet platforms
    • Willingness to learn how to use email communication platforms or publishing tools
    • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
    • Eagerness to learn new tools, processes, and communication methods
    • Basic familiarity with design or visual communication tool(s)
    • Comfort editing simple graphics, templates, or internal visuals
    • Interest in video editing or short‑form content tools
