Position Summary

Application Specialist supports the development and implementation of software applications and business systems.  This position will interact with business partners, application development, and software vendors to design, test, support, improve, sunset applications through their lifecycle.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze needs from internal and external business partners (including suppliers and OEM customers) and select appropriate software applications and technology to meet business requirements and IT strategies
  • Create specification, diagrams, and models to guide custom software development
  • Collaborate with system architects, developers, and software vendors to design and develop processes, integrations, and technology solutions
  • Develop processes and procedures to facilitate improved software usage such as automating repetitive tasks, and to facilitate interaction with applicable operating systems
  • Develop skills to operate key applications and provide application support to ensure smooth adoption of technology, including supporting application documentation and training, as needed
  • Serve as focal point for logging software related issues and registering problems or enhancements with software vendor
  • Manage releases for future upgrades and maintenance and ensure software works properly afterwards
  • Research new technology and interact with software vendors for assistance, knowledge sharing, and driving requirements representing Yazaki interest 

 

Specific Area of Discipline Responsibilities

This position is focused on Engineering and PLM Applications area within IT. 

  • Research and implement new features and functionality within the Siemens Capital suite of tools used for delivering innovative E/E architectures, electrical systems, networks, and embedded software
  • Analyze engineering business and technical requirements and manage trade-offs based on implementation resource constraints
  • Interact with engineering architect new methods to improve design quality, reduce design lead-time, and standardize processes between engineering design teams
  • Author functional specifications for custom software development projects and changes
  • Build and maintain interfaces for importing/exporting OEM customer design data to Yazaki engineering systems
  • Develop processes and procedures to facilitate improved software usage such as automating repetitive engineering tasks, design validation checks, and key system interfaces to downstream systems (e.g. SAP, Costing System, Manufacturing Systems)
  • Map key interfaces between engineering applications/systems and downstream processes, including SAP, Costing, and Purchasing systems
  • Provide program design support as needed, including troubleshooting software features and customizations
  • Conduct training for Capital XC software including application functionality and Yazaki customization
  • Interact with software vendors for assistance, knowledge sharing, and driving requirements representing Yazaki interest

 

Minimum Requirements

Degree Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Related Technology fields, or equivalent experience

Certification Requirements:

N/A

Previous Experience:

Experience in wire harness design engineering or engineering software implementation and support

Strong knowledge of 3D and 2D engineering design tools, including Siemens Capital, NX, and CATIA

Travel Requirements:

As required; 5-10% International possible

As required
