What we are looking for:

 

Yazaki is looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance business unit in Canton, MI.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment, making lasting impacts on the organization.  This position is hybrid.

 

What you will be doing:

 

 

 Forecasting

  • Establish the BU process and schedule of events to support BU forecasting
  • Schedule and lead meeting to kickoff BU short-term and long-term forecasting
  • Prepare BU cost center operating expense forecast with cost center managers
  • Consolidate BU forecast and review with BU managers
  • Prepare monthly Rolling forecast updates for BU review
  • Prepare direct profit forecast, considering factors such as copper price and cost changes, labor rate changes, customer productivity, potential new business, value management activity and other factors impacting carline profitability
  • Prepare logistics and extraordinary expense forecast considering factors such as new program launches, balance outs, affiliate locations and historical trends
  • Prepare program direct costs, including labor and other program specific operating expenses considering factors such as anticipated drawing releases and build support (including location) as required
  • Prepare any forecast updates as requested by management
  • Act as the liaison between core Finance and Program Management

 

Month/Quarter/Year End Closing

  • Support Core Finance meetings and communicate key points to BU Finance Manager and BU President
  • Reconcile financial systems to make sure business transactions are accurately reflected in financial reporting
  • Post journal entries for closing
  • Analyze information to ensure accurate accruals are in place for month and quarter close
  • Investigate and resolve purchase price and sales price discrepancies
  • Work with Sales to explain forecast variances by program
  • Prepare BU monthly and year-to-date income statements with commentary and present status and variance explanations to BU President
  • Report accruals to management on a monthly basis
  • Prepare monthly cost center reports including operating expense and headcount performance to forecast
  • Review monthly reports with cost center managers, perform detail investigations as requested, and follow through to make sure reports accurately reflect business transactions
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly reports and metrics are completed according to deadlines
  • Conduct monthly risk and opportunities meeting for Customer groups
  • Coordinate and Support A\R Reconciliation activity within Customer groups
  • Review fixed assets requisitions and monitor assets disposition
  • Consolidate department allocations and compare actual to forecast on a monthly basis at program level

 

Core Functions

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors as required
  • Coordinate with Program Controllers, other BU Financial Analysts, and Core Finance to improve closing and reporting processes
  • Mentor department associates including Financial Analysts and Product Cost Analysts
  • Provide financial oversight, leadership, and support in development best practices and processes improvements 

 

What you will bring to the table:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or closely related field
  • At least 5 years of commercial and financial experience, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Travel: minimal
  • Ability to resolve issues by applying creative thinking
  • Ability to think and act logically under pressure
  • Ability to resolve issues or propose resolutions to responsible parties
  • Must work independently and collaboratively
