What we are looking for:

 

Yazaki is looking for a Cost Planning Specialist to join our TPNO Business Unit team in Canton, MI.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. 

 

The Cost Planning Specialist is responsible for projecting financial analysis following Global Project Management processes and rules. Sets clear targets for each division/department, coordinates the roadmap implementation with related responsible and follow-up results to be reported in the program review meetings. Facilitates Business Unit profitability improvement activities based on data analysis of product’s cost and price. Works closely with Sales, Purchasing, Component BU, Manufacturing and Engineering to facilitate and coordinate improvement actions for Project Profitability Improvement activities.

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Product Costing
  • Calculate and analyze product Bill of Material cost by component
  • Calculate and analyze product production cost
  • Calculate and analyze project life profitability and target achievements

 

  • Financial analysis for RFQ
  • Gather necessary information to build a profitability and feasibility analysis for RFQ
  • Prepare target costing and set targets for each division based on profit target
  • Get the agreement of the targets set from each division/department
  • Gather improvement ideas (roadmap) to fill the gap between target and current achievement
  • Risk Assessment of project profitability due to internal (e.g. non-achievement of targets, etc) and/or external factors (eg. exchange rate fluctuation, volume change, etc)
  • Prepare report for program review meetings

 

  • Financial analysis during program development phase
  • Update of target costing based on design changes and target achievement based on RFQ
  • Follow-up and update roadmap tracking sheet aiming at profit maximization of the program
  • Risk Assessment of project profitability due to internal (e.g. non-achievement of targets, etc) and/or external factors (eg. exchange rate fluctuation, volume change, etc)

 

  • Financial analysis after start of production
  • Compare planned KPIs with actual mass production result
  • Analyze what went well and did not go well during development phase from Cost Planning perspective
  • Follow-up and verify roadmap items implementation
  • Risk Assessment of project profitability due to internal (e.g. non-achievement of targets, etc) and/or external factors (eg. exchange rate fluctuation, volume change, etc)

 

  • Mass Production Programs profitability improvement activities
    • Compare and analyze BOM, Labor Rate and WH quotes from affiliates each semester quote
    • Follow-up Labor rate result month by month
    • Follow and analyze changes in main profitability KPIs, such as Gross Margin, Direct Profit, EBIT, etc
    • Track improvement item by item and make sure closure through PDCA
       
  • Support other projects, tasks and/or duties as assigned
  • Create “what if” scenarios from financials perspective, in order to support management in decision making

 

 

What you will bring to the table:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or closely related field
  • Required:  Broad, thorough knowledge business principles ideally in Sales or Finance
  • Preferred: 2 years global business experience in Automotive or Manufacturing  
  • Preferred: Spanish fluency
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
