What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Wire Harness Circuitry Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in wire harness packaging, circuit design, and validation while working in a collaborative and action-driven environment. This person should be able to work independently and within a team, leveraging their knowledge of circuitry, wire harness components, and vehicle system integration.
What you will be doing:
- Responsible for wire harness packaging and circuitry design, utilizing Yazaki or customer CAD systems.
- Perform 3D modeling, section cutting, and conversion of 3D data to 2D drawings while ensuring design accuracy.
- Conduct design reviews at Yazaki and customer facilities to validate design feasibility and manufacturability.
- Select circuit protection, wire types, connectors, and other circuit-related components for vehicle system circuitry.
- Diagnose and trace issues through root cause analysis and provide solutions for design concerns.
- Develop and maintain program-specific design documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, DFM, DR reviews).
- Evaluate and interpret customer-provided drawings and documents, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Perform benchmarking and warranty analysis to improve design quality and efficiency.
- Support prototype testing, competitive product evaluations, and troubleshooting to drive engineering improvements.
- Represent Yazaki Engineering at customer engineering and manufacturing sites, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
What you will bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in wire harness design, circuit integration, and validation within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (2D/3D) for packaging and circuit layout design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve design issues.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of circuit protection, wire sizing, and connector selection for vehicle systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for wire harness design and integration.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams, external suppliers, and customers.
