What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for an Advanced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Purchasing team in Canton, MI. This person will utilize Supplier Quality and Development (SQD) processes, procedures, and tools to manage prototype and pre-production components for Business Unit (BU) programs. The ASQE will be assigned a specific BU and its respective program(s). The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. This position is hybrid.
What you will be doing:
- Manage all Yazaki North America (YNA) designed components from kickoff to launch (PPAP) for all prototype tooling, production tooling, fixtures, or jigs for OEM programs
- Obtain all necessary program information (New Component Request (NCR), drawings, program timing, etc.)
- Kickoff, manage, and ensure the successful completion of all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tasks with Commodity Purchasing, Advance Purchasing, Engineering, Program Management, YNA affiliates, and external supplier teams.
- Conduct kickoff and program coordination meetings, project reviews, risk assessments, tool progress reviews, Process Signoff’s (PSO), and PPAP approvals.
- Coordinate design reviews
- Ensure all data sources are updated with current information (Tracking matrices, BOM’s, APQP, SharePoint, or Salesforce).
- Manage and develop relationships with sourced suppliers for assigned programs
- Conduct handoff meeting(s) after PPAP approval with assigned production SQE.
- Manage all advanced quality deliverables for external suppliers:
- Global Program Management System (GPMS) tasks
- Overall PPAP status
- Risk Assessments
- Identification of high-risk components
- APQP/Tool Updates
- Monitor Launch Performance
- Global Program Management System (GPMS) tasks
- Support New Supplier Form (NSF) process
- Conduct document and data reviews, and when necessary, conduct onsite supplier assessments for new suppliers
- Support reviews and updating of Supplier Quality Manual content
- Support any assigned Supplier Change Request (SCR) tasks
- Interact with internal customers regarding ASQE activities
- Develop, manage, and meet yearly performance objectives
- Support and utilize all applicable SQD processes, procedures, and initiatives
- Prepare, update, and communicate required presentations, data, issue status, reports, etc.
- Lead sub-team members with Management direction
- Learn and develop management/supervisory skills
- Mentor other team members and lead by example
- Advanced knowledge of position (Subject Matter Expert SME)
- Provide and explore future strategy development in support of Management
What you will bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree, (Technical or Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience
- Applicable professional certification preferred (ASQ, Six Sigma, IATF Audit, etc.)
- 2+ years manufacturing/quality experience
- Must be willing to travel to domestic/international (Mexico, Europe, Asia, etc.) locations on short notice
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English are required (preferred: Spanish, German, Japanese)
