What we are looking for:

 

Yazaki is looking for a Advanced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our Stellantis team in Canton, MI.  The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative and action-driven environment making lasting impacts on the organization. 

 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the Advanced Quality Planning Functions in support of Program Management (AQP Lead), evaluation of specific Quality tasks and the coordination of the quality functional reviews according to tasks for Quality as applicable.  In addition, lead multifunctional group for successful product transfers and launches among Manufacturing affiliates, coordination of launch readiness, on-site reviews and product validation; ensuring open actions are identified and tracked to closure. The ideal candidate will have extensive customer interaction in regards to the OEM Quality processes and customer requirements including but not limited to: PSO (Process Sign Off), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), TS (Technical Specification), and ISO (International Standards Organization) requirements.

 

What you will be doing:

 

Advance Quality Planning Activities (AQP)

  • Lead review of Quality lessons learned into advanced program team activities and support lessons learned implementation in manufacturing plant processes
  • Facilitate, coordinate, support, and report on status of key program milestones and deliverables (program metrics) to program team during the product and process development phases according to YPMS
  • Conduct manufacturing  readiness assessment reviews using internal Yazaki standards and customer-provided assessments tools
  • Identify specific requirements for Run@Rate activities and support the plant in their preparation and customer visits
  • Coordinate and co-develop product transfer customer approval plan, provide final plan to Program Management, and review with manufacturing
  • Support program coordination meetings and communicate quality-related program status and risks to the program team
  • Inform Program Management of prototype build status at manufacturing plants
  • Define and document initial customer PPAP submission level, requirements, and timing and follow-up with manufacturing and program team regarding missed PSW concerns
  • Participate in the DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) development, complete the cascade review to PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and Control Plan
  • Review prototype, pre-launch and production control plans, including their test plans and methods, and work instructions and make recommendations for their enhancement
  • Establish direct customer contact at varying levels and functions
  • Lead the development of other customer specific quality initiatives
  • Pursue and follow-up on sign off of customer plant certification
  • Monitor customer supplier score card data on a monthly basis to keep current with supplier ratings, identifying any area of improvement, including confirmation of proper supplier code allocations
  • Ford specific:  Develop program specific test concept

 

Launch Support Activities

  • Coordinate and lead other team members in support of launch events
  • Initiate containment and corrective actions (including rework) in conjunction with the Resident Engineer at Yazaki and customer location(s), including review of Quality reworks using ARS (Authorized Rework System)
  • Support monitoring and reporting of warranty commitments and claims resolution(s), support cross functional (Yazaki and customer) team reviews, and forecast risk/improvement impact of chosen corrective actions
  • Participate and facilitate problem-solving activities where problems are complex or additional support is necessary
  • Attend manufacturing quality performance meetings with customer
  • Support Manufacturing in conjunction with Supplier Quality and Advanced Purchasing on component issues as necessary to follow-up with key supplier issues during development and production phases
  • Document and evaluate identified non-conformances via GQRS (Global Quality Reporting System) and customer specific databases and provide answers to customer complaint reports thoroughly and accurately, technically correct, and in a timely manner
  • Create and update a Matrix within SharePoint  of pre-production build issues and monitor them until items closed in conjunction with the Resident Engineer
  • Confirm completion of internal and external corrective action reports for quality issues
  • Ford specific:  Resolve SIM (Supplier Improvement Metrics) mapping through STA when Q1 status is compromised and provide certification information to a Ford STA

 

What you will bring to the table:

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Quality Engineering or closely related field
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing and quality systems in automotive applications or related industry
  • CQE, CRE, Shainin or Six Sigma certification preferred
  • 25% minimum travel- domestic and international
  • Ability to be on call as needed
